NORLA at the Norwegian Festival of Literature in Lillehammer 24 - 29 May
This year's festival theme is 'Cities' and as 2011 is also the Norwegian Year of Architecture, NORLA hosted an international seminar on Architecture and Books, with invited publishers from China, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and France. Also Norwegian architects, publishers of books on architecture and other invitees participated in the seminar which was held Wednesday May, 25.
Each year NORLA invites a group of translators of Norwegian literature to participate at the festival. This year, ten translators of Norwegian literature are taking part in the festival, among them translating Norwegian literature into nine different languages; English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Czech, Chinese, Polish and Hungarian.
As in previous years, NORLA also cooperated with the Norwegian Publishers Association in arranging a seminar during the festival for invited international publishers. The seminar offers an insight into Norwegian contemporary fiction, as well as on overview of the Norwegian book trade and publishing business. This year publishers from Germany, Spain and Italy participated.
