NORLA awards annually a prize to the value of 20 000 Norwegian kroner to a translator who has done a significant contribution to translation of Norwegian literature to foreign languages, as well as to the promotion of Norwegian literature abroad.
A free stay in Oslo is included in the prize, as the winner may spend tree weeks in the flat in the House of literature in Oslo.
The prize was awarded for the first time in May 2007, and will be awarded every second year to a translator who has done a special effort for non-fiction literature, and every second year to a translator of fiction.
