NORLA's activities Winter/Spring 2011
NORLA will attend this spring's book fairs in Paris, Bologna and London, as well as literature conferences. For details see below
JANUARY
Visit to the West Bank and Jerusalem, 24 - 28 January
Translation rights for Simon Stranger’s young adult novel "Barsakh" are sold into 6 languages, among them Arabic. The book will be published by the Tamer Institute for Community Education, a Palestinian publisher and educational institution. It is translated into Arabic by Zakia Khairhoum.
The author will, along with NORLA, visit the West Bank and Jerusalem 24 - 28 January to launch the book. The visit is supported financially by the Norwegian representative office in Jerusalem.

Nordic Children/YA Literature conference ‘Maktens Plutifikasjon’, Stavanger, Norway, 7 - 9 February
NORLA will attend the Nordic conference Maktens Plutifikasjon in Stavanger, hosting a debate on national differences in the reviewing of literature for children and young adults. Discussing the issue are the three translators Gabriele Haefs, Christel Hildebrandt (both German) and Bernadette Custers (Dutch), along with Sverre Henmo of the Norwegian Association of Writers for Children (NBU). MARCH
Salon du Livre, Paris, 18 - 21 March
The Nordic countries will be guests of honour at the Paris Book Fair Salon du Livre from 18 to 21 March. A number of Norwegian authors will be present, as will NORLA. During the fair there will be a seminar for invited translators of the Nordic languages, and NORLA’s Translation Awards for 2010 (non-fiction) and 2011 (fiction) will be announced. Russian Literature Days, Oslo, 27 - 29 April
For the second year running Russian Literature Days are held at the House of Literature in Oslo, 27 - 29 April. This year four Russian contemporary authors will be taking part in the program. In connection with the Literature Days NORLA will arrange visits for invited Russian publishers and culture journalists.
